Ronnie Walker counsels individuals who are grieving sudden, unexpected loss. She is trained and experienced in treating traumatic and complicated grief. Following the suicide of her stepson in 1995, she gained firsthand experience of the extraordinary pain felt by suicide survivors.
Ronnie provides in-person counseling to individuals and groups in Illinois. She also consults and coaches survivors across the world, using innovative and cost-effective telephone and web cam technologies.
In additional to her clinical training, Ronnie is versed in concepts of personal wellness, effectiveness and productivity. She has designed programs for the University of Illinois and National-Louis University as well as for major health and human service organizations.
She is committed to helping people who have suffered traumatic loss, and often works in challenging situations. Following Hurricane Katrina, Ronnie was deployed to Louisiana by the U.S. Health and Human Services Administration to counsel hundreds of evacuees. She volunteers as a Red Cross Disaster Counselor and as a Weekend Manager at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago.
She is a mother and grandmother, and lives with her husband John (and dog, Scout) in Evanston, IL.
Ronnie has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counseling. She adheres to the professional ethics of the National Board of Certified Counselors and of the American Counseling Association.
